Description:

Grief and loss are complex experiences that children often struggle to articulate—yet they show up vividly in the playroom. This supervision-focused webinar is designed to support play therapists in deepening their understanding and confidence when working with child clients navigating grief and bereavement.

Through a combination of clinical insight, developmental perspectives, and case-based discussion, participants will explore how grief presents in play, how to ethically and effectively respond, and how to facilitate healing through play therapy. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing symbolic expressions of loss and maintaining the therapist's own emotional resilience in the face of clients' profound stories.

Whether supervising interns or seasoned clinicians, this training offers guidance for fostering clinical growth, enhancing reflective practice, and honoring the unique grieving processes of each child.

Objectives:

1. Identify common themes and play behaviors associated with grief and loss in children.

2. Guide ethical decision-making when working with grieving children and their families.

3. Support Play Therapists in recognizing countertransference and maintaining therapeutic boundaries.
