In this small group webinar, catered to the specific needs of the participants, we will be discussing the challenges of providing play therapy including play therapy skills, identifying clinical challenges, creating authentic therapeutic moments, and addressing the nuances of the practice of play therapy.
Participants are asked to come prepared with a specific supervision question or challenge.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1) Identify challenges in providing play therapy
2) recognize what is working (and what is not) in clinical play therapy sessions,
3) provide authentic learning opportunities for play therapy supervises.
4) address the nuances of the practice of play therapy
5) Identify the fit of play therapy theoretical approaches
6) address the rationale of specific play therapy approaches with children
This will count as 3 supervision hours toward your NIRE or APT Play Therapy certifications. NIRE supervisees are required to submit a 10 minute video clip from a play therapy session to review during the webinar.
NIRE Supervisors are required to submit a 10 minute video clip from a supervision session to review during the webinar. Please submit the clip at least one week prior to the webinar and secure the appropriate permissions prior to the webinar.
*NIRE participants are only allowed to attend 2 Case Conceptualizations to count towards their NIRE supervision process.

About the Presenter:
Ashley Lawton is the Director at Integrative Counseling Services. She has several postgraduate certifications in working with children using Play Therapy and additional training in working with traumatized populations. Ashley has presented on various Play Therapy topics, often relating to grief and loss. She is a board member of Friends of Hospice in Oswego County. At Integrative Counseling Services, Ashley provides counseling to adolescents, young adults, and adults, as well as Play Therapy to children. When not working, Ashley enjoys spending time with her two children, being outdoors, and can often be found with a good book.
